Grupos PAIDI en la Unidad:

La Unidad de Ecología siempre ha perseguido aumentar la sostenibilidad del cultivo del olivar desde un punto de vista ambiental y socio-económico, centrando su actividad en la valorización de los subproductos del sector. Para ello, han trabajado en la implementación de prácticas de manejo y de innovaciones, técnica y económicamente viables, que refuercen la diversidad de servicios ecosistémicos y, con ello, se garanticen las producciones sostenibles proporcionando resistencia y resiliencia ante la situación del cambio climático. 

Actualmente, los investigadores han centrado sus objetivos en la cuantificación del impacto sobre el cambio climático que tiene la presencia de la cubierta vegetal en los olivares, sin dejar de priorizar el reciclaje, la reutilización y el valor añadido de los subproductos procedentes de las almazaras. Por otra parte, trabajan en la identificación de la huella de carbono, la biodiversidad del suelo y la funcionalidad de los olivares característicos de la Cuenca Mediterránea, a fin de estudiar la influencia de las prácticas de gestión del suelo en la calidad y seguridad del aceite de oliva.
