The Title of Expert in Tasting of Virgin Olive Oils, organised by INUO, was awarded with the ‘Jaén En Positivo’

Juan Gómez Ortega, rector of Univeridad de Jaén and Sebastián Sánchez Villasclaras, professor of Chemical Engineering and head of the INUO Process Engineering unit, received the ‘Jaén En Positivo’ Award in ‘OLIVA 360’ category, granted by the Cadena COPE Jaén.

«Jaén en Positivo» have granted these awards for the twelfth consecutive year, which were born with the intention of recognizing the work of all those institutions, which, with their effort, with their work and with their example, demonstrate that it is possible to improve reality around us and overcome discouragement with a positive attitude.

The awards were delivered in HO hotel in the city of Jaén. The event was attended by a prominent presence of Jaén society, as well as civil and military authorities.

The Title of Expert in Tasting of Virgin Olive Oils, which this year celebrates its 19th edition, has 35 participants from the main EVOO producing countries such as Tunisia, Turkey, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Jordan, Algeria, Morocco or Georgia.

In this course, the bases of sensory analysis and its methodology are exposed, applying them to virgin olive oils from a theoretical-practical point of view, analyzing factors, positive and negative attributes that define the sensory quality of olive oils and their relationship with the cultivation and elaboration processes, as well as with other general physical and chemical parameters of quality control.
