Ángel Martínez Gutiérrez analyzes the new European legal framework for olive oils

The professor of commercial law and INUO´s member, Ángel Martínez Gutiérrez, has analyzed the new European regulations on the marketing of olive oils in the magazine Mercacei.

Ángel analyzes the 2 new European regulations:

1 Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/2104 of 29 July 2022, supplementing Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council, which lays down rules on marketing standards for olive oil.

He has a bearing on the need to update, simplify and clarify some matters of the regulatory framework and protect consumers through visible and correct information on which to support their purchase decisions, which results in the creation of fair competition conditions in the olive oil market.

2    Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/2105 of 29 July 2022, which laying down rules on conformity checks of marketing standards for olive oil and methods of analysis of the characteristics of olive oil.

He mentions the classification of olive oils obligatory nature, and the improvement in the nomenclature given to some of these mentions.
