4TH YALE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON OLIVE OIL AND HEALTH

The fourth edition of the Yale International Symposium on Olive Oil and Health was held in Rome (Italy) from 15-18 September 2022. The event was hosted by the Yale School of Public Health, the University of Rome Tor Vergata, and the University of Bari Aldo Moro. The University of Jaén participates through the University Institute for Research on Olives and Olive Oils (INUO).This symposium could also be followed online.

The Head of the Standardisation and Research Unit, Mercedes Fernández Albaladejo, attended the symposium. The goal of the symposium was to raise awareness of the health benefits of olive oil by addressing a variety of themes central to olive cultivation and the future of olive oil as it pertains to human and planetary health.

Several experts from different countries participated in this edition. Issues of key interest were discussed, such as the health benefits of olive oil, the role of high-quality extra-virgin olive oils in preventing diseases (NCDDs) and the health benefits of a sustainable Mediterranean diet.
